Cookie Policy
Last updated: January 22, 2026
1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Pilgrim, Inc. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on gopilgrim.org and within the Pilgrim research assistant platform (the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy. Pilgrim is a workspace tool for researchers and knowledge workers; cookies here serve the workspace, not advertising.
2. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or log into a web application. They allow the Service to recognize your browser, maintain your session, store workspace preferences, and measure how features are used. We also use related technologies such as browser local storage to persist your banner dismissal state.
3. How We Use Cookies
| Category | Examples | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Session authentication token, CSRF protection, cookie-banner dismissal state | Session to 12 months |
| Preferences | Workspace panel layout, sort order, display theme | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Self-hosted usage analytics tracking feature engagement (source uploads, synthesis runs); anonymized; no third-party ad networks | Up to 13 months |
| Marketing | Not currently used | Not applicable |
4. Notice and Choice
By continuing to use the Service, you acknowledge our use of cookies as described above. You can opt out of analytics cookies through our cookie banner (accessible at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer) or by configuring your browser to block non-essential cookies.
5. Universal Opt-Out Signals
Where applicable state law requires, including California under the CPRA and Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and Oregon under their respective privacy statutes, we honor browser-transmitted opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") for analytics and any sale or targeted-advertising categories. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we suppress analytics initialization for that session.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Pilgrim does not load third-party advertising scripts or social-media trackers. Analytics for the Service are self-hosted. Our payment processor (Stripe) may set cookies on checkout pages to facilitate secure payment processing; those cookies are governed by Stripe's own privacy policy. We have data processing agreements with all service providers who may access session data.
7. Managing Cookies
- Use the cookie banner (reopen via "Cookie preferences" in the footer) to opt out of analytics.
- Browser settings allow you to block or delete cookies; see aboutcookies.org for browser-specific instructions. Note that blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in to the workspace.
8. Changes and Contact
We may update this policy when our analytics tooling or cookie usage changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any revision.
